The Contender World Championship in Malcesine will take place from Saturday 28 July to Thursday 3 August 2025.
For the first time Fraglia Vela Malcesine will be the protagonist with the Contender class regattas that will elect the 2025 World Champion.
With more than twenty regattas a year, Fraglia Vela Malcesine confirms itself as a point of reference for racers from all over the world.
The Upper Garda area is particularly well-known and appreciated by Contender sailors for its excellent wind conditions combined with an extraordinary landscape.
World Contender Championship Malcesine 2025
Over 180 crews will take part in the World Championship, ready to compete in one of the most technical and spectacular singlehanded dinghies ever.
The World Championship is the highlight of the entire season, with challengers coming from all over the world.
The event takes place over 7 days.
2 of these are dedicated to the finalisation of entries and tonnage checks.
During the other 5, the regattas will take place.
There will be 10 races, 2 per day, with the possibility of holding a third make-up race.
The first 6 races will be qualifying races. Then the fleet will be divided into ‘Gold’ and ‘Silver’ and the finals will take place.
The choice of Malcesine was dictated by the excellent weather conditions, not as extreme as those of Riva or Torbole, which do not allow lighter crews to race.
